Deadly (Pitching) Arms Update #1

Jamie Moyer (the subject of this post), is officially the oldest pitcher to win a major-league baseball game. Note that the previous record-holder (Jack Quinn, of the Brooklyn Dodgers) won his game in 1932, and only pitched two innings. Meanwhile, Jamie Moyer threw seven innings for his win, giving up no earned runs (and two unearned runs).

Oh, and the previous record-holder won his game in mid-September 1932. Moyer won his in mid-April 2012; he still has most of the season (and, I’d like to think, next season) to keep extending his record.

For the record, this is probably the only baseball story not involving the Redbirds that I will find of interest this season.
