Rolling on the Random Firearms Thoughts Table

Just a random thought about a line from Jim Croce’s “Bad, Bad Leroy Brown“:

When Jim says that Leroy Brown’s “got a .32 gun in his pocket for fun,” my first reaction is “well, it’s not like a .32 is useful for any serious business.” Heck, you can get better muzzle energy from a well-designed .22LR round.

The .32 acp is seriously under-rated by it’s critics. The .22 LR velocities are measured from a rifle, fired from a 2.5 inch pistol barrel and the little 40 gr bullet will be subsonic. Now if you take the Buffalo Bore .32 acp load with the 75 gr HCFN bullet, it will be doing over 900 fps from a Keltec. This will be quite lethal at close range for head shots.
